G
eorge met the woman he would marry while he was truck driving and they settled in New Jersey.  George was employed sporadically so it was she who supported the household.  His ex-wife said that George was addicted to pain killers during their marriage.  Their first child was a son and their second was a daughter.  George gave his son the nickname "Masche" and his daughter he nicknamed "Dink."

George - unfit for the Navy but fit to drive

From her MySpace page about George:

"When the bottom fell out of the oil market in the early 80's, I moved home where I met my future husband (the father of my children)."

"He lived in Woodbury, NJ, so I moved there and we married in August, 1983. My son was born in October, 1984."

"But, becoming a mother made me so lonely for my own mother that we moved back to Greenville. Mom had moved back to Greenville (her hometown) to complete her Nursing degree."

George became a parent

George's lifelong drug abuse had not yet taken its toll on his body and so infidelity was a problem in the marriage.

Out of frustration with George's infidelity, his wife wrote this permission slip for him. Per custom George kept and filed the paper.  (Adult Language)

From her MySpace page about George:

"Name Redacted was born in March, 1987 and life was getting increasingly difficult. My (then) husband wouldn't work, or help with the house or children, so we separated and divorced in March, 1988."

"Being a single mother to 2 young children was much better than having a grown man who was more work than the babies!"

After their divorce, custody of the children often changed.  George's wife took their daughter at age 6 to a psychiatrist suspecting sexual abuse.  The doctor saw the child on 8 occasions, and although the child was unusually knowledgeable about sexual matters, the report was inconclusive.

Later in life George obtained a home in Pennsylvania and lived with another woman for about 12 years.  He referred to her as his wife though they were never married.  During this time period, Social Security shows at least 5 years without any earnings for George.  He had surgery on at least 2 occasions and spent a great deal of time on the sofa taking pain medication, mostly OxyContin.  This woman worked as a server in a nearby restaurant and may well have supported George and his two children for many of those years.

This note was written by the woman and illustrates George's lack of interest and function within the home.

George,

When I got home at 1:30 the horses were locked out.  Not too cold thats no problem.  The H2O was running I was in the bathroom and heard it.  I must be able to hear the pump running!!  Hay was in the stalls but I don't know if they got fed?  Could you try to pay more attention to detail, please!

You want me to follow through and do what you ask, I would like the same consideration.  That goes for the dirty dishes in sink also.  Do I have to leave a detailed list on the nights I work??  You ask me for money-p/u stuff - pay for gas that you charge - what do you do for me?  Every night I come home this place looks the same!  Surprize me clean up!

During this period, George shaved his head.  This coincided with a claim to have cancer and undergoing chemotherapy treatments.

A later claim of cancer was found in this letter:

May 20 2003 Mrs. Koukowski:

Greetings.  I'm sending you this fax as I've tried to get you on the phone with no results.

Last week I got the news that the growth on my private part was melignant.  I'm asking you who could I begg to get medical coverage.  I don't want to let the VA operate on me as they did an operation on me when in the Navy and butchered me so bad I was permantly disabled not to mention that they refuse to give me the medication I need for alergies, ulcerative colonitis they have allegedly been trying to schedule a colonoscopy that I needed for last year.

I could die of cancer before they get around to doing anything not to mention I need a drug they don't cover and has been costing me (my friend provides each month that costs over 800.00 per month further I just got my RX and my daughter RX which cost 1,045.00!!  Now we can't afford to eat anything other than cereal, oatmeal or spaghetti.

I am truly in need of assistance.  I'm willing to begg for help as I have no shame left.  I even lost over 50lbs from not eating every day.  My children are everything to me I look forward to being around for them as I'm all they have.

So please let me know who I have to call or better yet who I could see in person.

Lastly as I told you my daughter is having a hard time coping with the loss of her Mom for all she is.  Name Redacted, my daughter need to see a pycocyistriss(?)

Please call me and let me know what I can do.

Sincerely

George C. Mauger

George had originally obtained this home by falsifying his employment with a friend's business.  George obtained a sample of his friend’s signature on a Membership card, copied it and practiced writing the signature.  The company that was listed as George’s employer on the Verification of Employment never employed George and was never contacted by the Loan Processor, Carol Gable, who may have backdated this form.

George also produced his own W-2 form & pay stubs using another stub as a guide.

Eventually George & his common law wife were unable to make the mortgage payments and even though he had secured an additional loan they eventually lost the home.  She parted from George and got her own apartment.  George's brothers helped empty the house and filled several dumpsters with trash.  This same condition of George's home, would repeat itself later in life.

After George lost his home (pictured above), he lived in his car and later a camper.
