G
eorge was a prolific letter writer.  He wrote repeatedly to numerous State Agencies hoping to acquire benefits and he wrote his Representatives about his many problems.  These letters have produced some extraordinary "Georgeisms." Apart from George's unusual treatment of the English language his letters reflect his willingness and eagerness to present himself as incapable, disabled and suffering.  "How appipoe" actually appears in a suicide letter in the next chapter.

One of George's many letters to the Welfare Department

March 18 2006

Dear Caseworker,

Greetings!  My name is George Mauger.  I'am outright BEGGING for my medical Benefits to be renewed.  I unfortunately suffer from a number of severe medical problems.  First I am being treated for acute mental depression, which has been brought on by my problems I take five medications for this.  I had a tumor cut out of my neck which has grown back, along with four lumps all of which will be biopsy on April 14 the.  my oncologist fears cancer as I've had sever weight loss and bad blood work.  My biggest problem started 4 1/2 years ago when I was hurt real badly in an accident.  They fixed my shoulder and my knee but it has rendered me with ACUTE pain in my right tactical.  It feel like my tactical is in a vice being crushed.  I'm treated with having to take 200 M.G> of morphine every six hours, just to survive.  I had lost my medicine on three occasions and I was forced to attempt suicide.  As with out my med's the pain is so severe that I don't want to live.  All of my meds cost approximately $ 1,500 to $ 1,700.00 per month.  My income is only $881.00 per month just my rent is $ 925.00, so I have to borrow every month to get by.  Obviously I can not afford to pay out of pocket.

I don't ask for monitory or for food stamps ALL I ask for is for my medical benefits to continue, for with out them I will perish.  My daughter lives with me and we just found out she is pregnant!  Plus I also have a son who also needs me.

I have not been able to sleep since I received this notice in the mail on Saturday.  PLEASE PLEASE renew my benefits.  Also I you do would you please call me at 610-XXX-XXXX to let me know as it is alot of pressure that I don't need.  My meds are renewed on the 10 the of April so at the very least if you can keep it in effect until then it would give me a month to get things in order.  I will need at least that time.

"Free is for me!"

If you need letters from all my doctors I can get them.

Once Again please help me.  If I can be of further assistance in any way please don't hesitate to call.

Take Care And God Bless

George Mauger

Can you imagine the overworked folks at the Welfare office when George's letters arrive?  "Hey Ed, that Mauger guy wrote again and this time he has a pain in his right tactical!"

Note to George:  I think we solved this puzzle.  Ordinary men have testicles but Navy Seal imposters have "tacticals."  Between the supposed "melignant" "growth" on your "private part" and the supposed pain in your "right tactical," have you considered castration as a medical solution to the problems you've experienced with your reproductive organs?  Given the full package of Viagra in your room, your condition and age, it might be worth considering since it's doubtful those organs serve as anything more than ornamentation.

Dear Haley,

Hello! How are you?  I'am O.K.  Here is some letter's I recieved for your information.  Also today I found out my auto insurance will go up to 112.50 a month, as since I was forced to let it lappse, now I have to be penelized 40.00 a month!  It never ends.  Well thank you again.  If I can be of further assistance please call.

Sincerely,

George C. Mauger II

From a 9 page letter to Keystone Mercy:
The pain has driven me to suicide on 4 occasions.  Unfortunatly, me daughter had walk in my bedroom the 1st time I was going to shoot myself but I couldn't get the courage to pull the trigger.  She suffers from Post Dramatic Stress Disorder.  She can't deal with seeing me in pain!!  I try to hide it but can't sometimes.

Note to George:  Perhaps you think Post Dramatic Stress Disorder is something suffered by female teenagers.  If so, you would be wrong.  It's Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, George.  You should write that down because we're certain your letters will continue to call on the mental anguish you caused your daughter.  We agree with you on this point - you indeed lack courage.

George's Christmas Greeting

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas & Haippies of New Years

The basic facts I believe are a sever communifications that where either not convead or MIA.

As you will see I've been severly disables, starting out with was thought to be a spider bite, then they found out I have evere ulcerativs which gave me Prydrouis Gangrenoice they found a cxompressed disk and even thought sice I vollentary joined the U.S. to go to Vietnamm and was given a whole slew of shots.  It was only by the grace of God that I managed to find, apply, and subsequently approvwd for the full 3 year tern, which started on the following time line :

17/) After I secured a $ 52,000.0 a year job, then jumped tp 58,000.0 and on july 1 goto$61,000.00 I was verbaly approved.  see ( Exhibit # 40 )  I needed time as I made a cash settlement to my ex-wife recieving PERMINENT custody,of my daughter shoes books, alot of items that where stolen.  I was NEVER given A DEADLINE by May 15 , however I did request to Northwest to put the march, April and June payments to the rear of the loan.  My impression was it was not a problem, but would need to be authorized.  I though this very normal and was awaiting and answer.  In fact I sold my son and daughter horses as a back-up plan.  AS in the mean time on May 28 I was baffled by this letter.  I don't understand the retional behind this although we've been thretoned with loosing our home! I spoke with Name Redacted onSaturday at 6:40 he had advised me to contact you and also the attournity of which I did.

I have everything well oucumented and only want the opportunity to keep my home.  I have also included an aggrement with Norwest, who was very courtious in expecting the $ 3,400.00 and putting the rest of the payments to the rear of the loan, I spoke  with Name Redacted Wednesday, and she wasn't sure why Norwest would decline shouch a small amount of money and not declair again they want my house.

Well I promissed to keep it short, but I am in great hopes you can get to the botom of this outrage.  If I can be of any further assistance in any way, please call.  MY phone line is ( 610 ) ***-**** or **** to leave a message

Respectufully Submitted,

Note to George:  We see you are still "Respectufully" submitting yourself to others which is certainly your choice and we noticed that at no point in your life between the ages of 17 and 41 did you learn to spell the word - miracle.  You don't learn many new things do you George?  For all your medical complaints though, we found ourselves stumped by the "sever ulcerativs which led to Prydrouis Gangrenoice."  That condition is so rare we found no mention of it on the Internet.  We can only surmise from the misspelled Latin that you supposedly suffered with an ulcer that became gangrenous.  We didn't wonder or guess about "thretoned with loosing" your home because frankly, we were too busy laughing.  If it's any comfort to you though, we certainly consider you "severly disables."
